What qualifications do I need?
To teach in the UK you will need to have QTS and have a B.Ed degree or a degree with PGCE or equivalent. Teaching assistants need to have at least an NVQ2 and Nursery Nurses an NVQ3 or NNEB qualification.
How long does it take to register with Salford Supply Desk?
Your interview should take no longer than 45 minutes. You need to provide 2 suitable references and have an Enhanced Criminal Record Bureau Disclosure before you can work for Salford Supply Desk. Once we have obtained suitable references and completed your vetting procedure you would be in a position to work for us.
Do I need a CRB Disclosure?
All our staff are thoroughly vetted and need to have an Enhanced CRB before placing in a school or nursery centre. We process CRBs for you and the procedure is simple, safe and secure.
Will I get regular work?
Keep in contact with us! Let us know your availability. Call us every morning at 7am to ensure the team know you are available for work. Its always advisable to call us at he end of each week to let us know your availability for the following week. The bottom line is schools tend to ask for staff who have done a good job for them. If you are professional and do a good job, this will increase your chances of regular work.
How much notice will I be given for work?
We will always endeavour to give you as much notice as possible but the nature of supply means that often bookings are often at short notice.
How can I help speed up my registration?
If we have to apply for a new CRB Disclosure, this can take anything from 1 week to a month. The sooner you are able to provide your references the sooner we will be able to apply for them and in turn get you cleared for work.
I've just moved to the UK/ I've been working abroad, what do I do?
If you have lived abroad in the last 12 months or have arrived from overseas you must have an overseas police check. We are unable to apply for overseas police checks on your behalf so you will need a letter from the police in the country in which you have been residing confirming your record.
